Rhodium is a precious metal in the platinum group that does not oxidize, making it ideal for coating parts for electronic components, PCB’s, semiconductor components and much more. It is resistant to corrosion, oxidation, tarnishing, and scratches, making it an idea protective coating. Its boiling point is 3727°C and its melting point is 1966°C. Major advantages of rhodium include its resistance to heat, ability to prevent mechanical wear, electrical conductivity, and ability to reduce friction. Rhodium is whiter in color than palladium and platinum. It is frequently used to plate white gold to improve its appearance and to plate sterling silver to increase its resistance to tarnishing. Rhodium helps to protect sliding electrical contacts against galling and sliding contact wear.
